A weekend in Snowdonia

Updated: Jun 23, 2018

So this weekend myself and my mum travelled across to north wales to have a fun weekend playing in the mountains

Lake Padarn, LLanberis, Snowdonia

On Friday afternoon we travelled via Erwood station which was like a little halfway service station stop for us. We used to always stop in there when we would have family holidays in wales and look at the little art gallery there and grab a tea and cake so mum and I were reminiscing a little here.

After four and a half hours of exciting travelling we made it to the campsite; Tyn-yr-Onnen farm in Waunfawr. But the views as we came into the mountain range were AMAZING, it's almost my favourite part of the holiday coming into the place as the scenery is stunning and there is all the pre holiday excited apprehension of "we're gonna be somewhere up the soon".

Tyn-Yr-Onnen was a campsite we've never stayed at before but is DEFFO one we will be going back to: it's a simple site with 3 camping fields and a little farm yard area where they had donkeys (which I fell in love with that weekend), chickens, lambs etc. When we got there we pretty much just settled there for the remainder of the day once the tent was up.

Saturday by far was my favourite day of the weekend. We got up nice and early and did a 5 hour or so walk know as The Aberglaslyn, Bryn Du and Beddgelert walk. It was one I had found on the national trust website and is well worth a go if you're nearby: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/craflwyn-and-beddgelert/trails/aberglaslyn-bryn-du-and-beddgelert-walk

We also had a lovely pub dinner and a pint before bed; perfect end to a perfect day.

Despite the debate of whether we should or not considering poorly knees, we walked again on Sunday in the hills we could see from the campsite. Up towards Moel Tryfan and Myndd Mawr in Betws Garmon area

After a much needed shower and packing up the tent we made our way into llamberis for an early dinner and mooch about the outdoor shops

Thanks for reading! Next week is another blog post in Snowdonia all about my volunteer week that I am partaking in with Snowdonia society. Here's a little sneak peak ...

I will also have another weekend playing in the mountains with Mum and this time with the woof so watch out for that. Subscribe with your email so you don't miss out!
