Swimming, Kayaking and Hiking (Scotland pt 4)

Day 6

The plan for today was to go sea kayaking BUUUUTTTTTTTTT the wind was gusting 32 mph and we wouldn’t have made it very far. Instead we got the tour of Rich’s new workplace at Ridgeway and went up the hill behind it for a little view of the place.

Kevin the peacock apparently had a brother who got chased into the loch by a dog and then refused to come off his rock. When the tide came in he stayed put on his rock. Maybe he didn't realise peacocks can fly...

We then got suited and booted and had a morning swim in the loch. A very cold one at that.

From there we took a scenic drive along the coast road to Stoer lighthouse and we walked from there to the old man of Stoer.

By time we finished it was 7 and tummies were grumbling, so we stopped off in Lochinver at the famous pie place for dinner. When we got back we pretty much just crashed in our beds.

Day 7

The winds were calm and the sky was clear. Perfect for sea kayaking. We had such amazing views and got closely followed by seals who kept making us jump by appearing behind us and snorting. At one point we must have been watched by at least 20 of them.

These are all Mums photos and video clips as I didn’t trust myself with my own phone on the water!

We had a late lunch/early dinner at the harbour in KLB and then with our last hour we had with Rich we went back to the beach we went to on the first night (my favourite beach) for a little walk and then we parted ways.

Thanks for reading! see you soon with part 5
